FAQs

Scalp Micropigmentation

What is Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP)?

Non-surgical solution to hair loss, thinning hair, or alopecia.  Hair follicles are replicated by placing organic pigments within the dermal layer of the skin on the scalp.

Who is this for?

SMP is for both, men and women.  Thinning hair and hair loss is not uncommon in females.  Although women lose hair differently than men, this cosmetic service is definitely beneficial.

Can I have this service if I have a scar?

SMP may be used to camouflage scars and in some cases hair transplant or other surgery scars.

Is this painful like a normal tattoo?

SMP only goes through the first layer of skin. Unlike a normal tattoo, we are not dragging the needle across your skin. Numbing cream is provided, if needed.  However, the sensation is usually tolerable.

What type of ink is used for this procedure?

Ink that consists of organic pigments, distilled water and hazel is used for this procedure.

Can I get this procedure if my hair is blonde or light colored?

Yes, the procedure works for individuals with lighter hair.  We would adjust the pigment according to the person's skin tone.

How much does this procedure cost?

When we complete your consultation, we will go over the pricing and treatment sessions for your procedure.  There aren't set prices, as there are things to take into consideration for your procedure.  Some things to take into consideration:

  • Total area of the head that we would treat.
  • Scars from previous surgeries or other situations.
  • Amount of required to blend with your existing hair, if any.
  • Remaining amount of hair and density.

Is there any downtime for the procedure?
